Redefining Sun Protection with Innovation - Solarepare MB

Abstract:

Solarepare MB is a natural and new active ingredient for UVB damage repair and defence. It is extracted from the Magnolia biondii flower, which is rich in lignans. Solarepare MB targets HMGB1 to prevent its migration from the nucleus, reducing sunburn and inflammation. Clinically, it can protect the skin after sun exposure and alleviate skin erythema. It is natural and COSMOS-approved.

It can be used in soothing and repairing skincare products. It also can be used as an effective booster in sunscreen products. Suitable formulations include sunscreen, spray, gel, essence, emulsion, etc.

More Details

Nowadays, more and more consumers consider sunscreen and suncare products inevitable. They are looking for new suncare products that not only have essential sunscreen functions but also have repairing and nourishing effects. Moreover, they pay more attention to the natural and green products.

Following this trend, we develop a new type of active ingredient for sun care, Solarepare MB. It is mainly for UVB protection and repair, specifically, redness after sunburn.

The UVB exposure will cause DNA damage to the cells on the skin. The cells will secrete a group of substances called DAMPS (Damage-associated molecular patterns). And then, DAMPS will cause more cell damage in the deeper layers and finally induce inflammation and redness on the skin.

There is an essential member of the DAMPs system called HMGB1. It is also known as High-Mobility Group Box 1 protein. In normal or healthy conditions, HMGB1 is located in the nucleus, positively affecting DNA repair. However, when cells are damaged, a large amount of HMGB1 is released and migrated from the nucleus, which will induce inflammation. Therefore, we need to inhibit HMGB1 migration from the nucleus to deal with sunburn, redness and inflammation.

Solarepare MB targets HMGB1, which is an innovative mechanism among suncare products. It shows that 0.02-2% Solarepare MB can inhibit HMGB1 migrating from the nucleus to relieve the sunburn cells. At the same time, it can protect the cells from DNA damage (decrease 8-OHG and CPD, both DNA damage markers) and increase cell viability.

Ex-vivo test

The clinical test shows that 0.5-2% Solarepare MB can reduce and repair the redness on the arms after UVB exposure (Photo analyzed by VISIA).

Solarepare MB is extracted from the Magnolia biondii flower from its original growing area. This plant grows flowers before it leaves. It takes 7-8 years from planting to flower budding. The flower is rich in lignans.

The lignans are a large group of low molecular weight polyphenols found in plants, which have sound anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant effects.

In conclusion, Solarepare MB is a new type of active ingredient for suncare products. Unlike other synthetic or inorganic sunscreen ingredients, it is natural and COSMOS-approved. It meets consumers' new demand for suncare products. It has an innovative mechanism, which is to target HMGB1.

It can be used together with other sunscreen ingredients, providing a greener effect; it can also be used in daily skincare products to provide consumers comprehensive protection from daily sunlight exposure.
